About Hannah de Groot, LPC (she/her)

I’m here to help you rediscover your love for your sport and for your life.

I’m a Pennsylvania-based therapist who specializes in helping athletes recover from eating disorders and OCD.

Change isn’t easy (even when it’s “good”).

I want you to know that anxiety, whether big or small, justifies seeking help. As an athlete, you tackle difficult challenges, so why should your mental health be any different? Recovery may be tough, but the satisfaction of achieving your goals makes the hard work worthwhile.

You're here because you feel held back by your beliefs about food.

Disordered eating impacts 62% of female athletes and 33% of male athletes.

You feel trapped by restrictive beliefs that dictate your eating habits and overall relationship with food. These beliefs might stem from societal pressures, past experiences, or misinformation, and have led to unhealthy patterns like guilt or anxiety. By addressing and reframing these limiting beliefs together, you will liberate yourself from these constraints, fostering a more positive, balanced, and empowering connection with food that encourages mindful choices and joy in eating.

How I work:

At the core of my approach is the conviction that you deserve autonomy over your body and the decisions you make.

You are in charge of your life. I am committed to creating a safe and empowering environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices without judgment. I recognize that each individual is the expert of their own experiences, and my role is to support you in reclaiming your agency, facilitating self-discovery, and fostering resilience as you navigate your unique journey. Together, we will work to build the confidence and clarity you need to make informed decisions that align with your values and aspirations.

Therapy with me is…

  • In sessions, I show up as my true self and I'd love for you to do the same. Authenticity facilitates trust and healing. Therapy is all about connection. I strive to make you feel comfortable and related to. I'm here to share in your sadness and celebrate your wins (literally and figuratively).

  • My therapeutic style integrates insight with humor, sensitivity and creativity. I aspire to create a warm, supportive environment that fosters personal growth and open communication. Therapy can be both insightful and enjoyable!

  • We'll create goals that align with your athletic performance and well-being, while fostering a healthier relationship with food and body image. Our sessions are designed to empower you, providing tailored strategies that promote resilience, and support your journey to recovery.
